CRAIG BOCKING AND JORDAN DEBONIS WIN 2024 ALNWFL PGA COACH AND PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The recent Alabama NW Florida PGA Section Awards Dinner was an evening of celebration for exceptional PGA professionals. Among the honored were Craig Bocking, Director of Instruction, crowned as the 2024 ALNWFL Section PGA Coach of the Year, and Jordan DeBonis, Head Golf Professional, recognized as the 2024 ALNWFL section PGA Player of the Year. Their outstanding performance reflects the dedication and excellence they bring to our team at The Ledges. We are immensely proud of their achievements and privileged to have them leading the way in our golf community.

WELCOME BACK GOLF SEASON!

We achieved remarkable milestones in 2023, with record-breaking rounds and exceptional participation in all club events. With sustained full membership, we anticipate the continuation of this trend, ensuring the enjoyment of our full golf course. The course boasted impeccable conditions last year, and we eagerly anticipate another year of excellence. We’re reaching out to request your support in giving back to the agronomy department, whose relentless efforts maintain this golf course’s pristine playing conditions. Contributing by repairing ball marks, filling divots, and consistently raking bunkers is the most significant way we can assist.

As a friendly reminder, the changing of time indicates longer days and more opportunities for golf. Our primary focus is on elevating our members’ experience. We eagerly anticipate the implementation of new programs designed to surpass your expectations and create an unforgettable experience. For those who may be new to the sport, now is the perfect time to dive in and discover the joys of golf. With lessons, clinics, and introductory programs readily available, there’s never been a better opportunity to learn the ropes and embark on a journey that promises endless enjoyment and fulfillment. Unfortunately, Emily our Pro Shop Assistant has taken a new job in Metairie, Louisiana at Metairie Country Club. We thank her for her hard work, and we wish her the best of luck. With that said, we are proud to announce a new addition to our Professional Staff. Michael Caune just joined us at the end of February. Michael has recently gone through the process of getting into the PGA Associates program to begin his journey to become a PGA Class “A” Professional. Michael will bring a lot of enthusiasm, new ideas and is eager to learn more about The Ledges Membership. Please stop by the Golf Shop and introduce yourself, we know he will be a great addition to The Ledges Professional Staff. Lastly, golf equipment this year is as good as we have ever seen from every company. Join us in the Men’s Lounge for drinks and appetizers to see if your golf ball will be drawn for one of the 64 spots we have in the 2024 Cliffhanger Member-Guest! Make sure your invitations are turned in by March 15th. There will be a few stipulations this year to help everyone’s chances of getting into the field:

• Past five champions are exempt, but you must play with that winning partner

• For every year your name has been in the drawing, and you haven’t been picked, an additional ball will be placed in the lottery

• Must be a member of the club for at least one full calendar year from the date of the tournament

REVENGE

What a great way to ease you back into golf season with the Superintendent’s Revenge. Director of Agronomy, Jim Howell and Head Superintendent, Wyatt Kotary will come up with vigorous plans to create havoc on the golf course. This is always a sell out so please make sure you call the golf shop to sign up.

LA JUNIORS

Begins March 19

Get ready for a great year of Junior Golf. Over the years we’ve been able to watch our juniors develop into great players and are excited to see it continue. We’re thrilled to provide another fun-filled year of honing their skills, creating stronger friendships and encouraging positive sportsmanship. We are anticipating another year of unforgettable moments in the LA Juniors Program! Please make sure you sign up by emailing Zach Weaver at zweaver@theledges.com.

CALLAWAY FITTING DAYS

The latest and greatest has arrived at The Ledges. Take some time out of your day to test out the all-new Ai Smoke from Callaway. King of the Mountain has been a vastly growing event at the club over the years. This is a season-long match play event comprised of a two-person teams. It’s open to the first 32 two-person teams to sign up. Each round you play, you will receive 80% of your handicap. Join us at the Golf Academy on April 17th, for our annual pairings party.

April 13

Our opening day tournament will be a modified Stableford with each player paired with a partner from the Master’s Field. Each player’s quota will be their handicap subtracted from 36. Players will play their own ball.

Entry: $75 per player

NINE, WINE & DINE

April 26

Enjoy a perfect blend of social atmosphere, golf and great food. We’re looking forward to our first Nine, Wine and Dine event of the year. Tee off in the afternoon for nine holes of relaxed couples’ golf and finish the evening with a great dinner, a few drinks with even better company. All events have a 72-Hour Cancellation Policy. Any cancellations or changes to the party sizes must be made before 72-hours prior to an event. After that time, the full price of the event will be charged.
